Dreams in Fae Glen
[Uusi] You dream of yourself flying over an infinitely
vast canopy. It's night, but the rippling orange sky ahead of you
indicates the coming of dawn. You smell smoke and glance downward at a
clearing among the trees. For a lingering instant you see yourself and
your companions, fast asleep around a crackling campfire. In the next
you're miles away, sun rising into view, spilling amber light across the
glen. You look around and see nothing but treetops in all directions,
glittering with the dawn. As your eyes reach the east once again you see a
second sun rise, and then a third. The suns look back.
You wake up.
[Stinky] You feel yourself floating through empty space.
It's peaceful. All is as it should be, aside from a slight ripple passing
through your essence. You see in all directions at once but choose to
focus on the only identifiable feature of this plane: a ring of light that
seems to bend around a sphere of blackness that is somehow even darker
than the emptiness surrounding you. You're drawn toward it, unable to
escape its pull. You reach an invisible border and in a microsecond you've
passed through, and into being.
Gone is the void, and in its place you perceive
yourself at the center of a vast spherical shell of stone and magma.
Behind you as you drift towards the inner surface of this shell, you see a
great orb of light falling away. Its smooth surface ripples with plasma.
Ahead of you a city of obsidian spires approaches. You feel your
consciousness fade as your spirit expands and dissipates.
You wake up.
[Ida] You're standing in a purple and gray landscape of
petrified vegetation. You feel compelled to walk, and so you do. You feel
unwell. The sickness starts at your stomach and as you travel deeper into
this broken place it spreads throughout your body, numbing your fingers
and blurring your vision. You pause for a moment at the crest of a hill to
make out a stone obelisk in the distance. This is your destination. You
begin walking again. You feel your skin ripple and your stomach churn as
you get closer. You briefly consider turning around and fleeing before
discarding this thought. This is your destination, after all. You pass an
opening in the earth with an iron doorway lodged inside. You ignore it and
keep moving until you're face to face with the spire. You reach out and
touch it, and your world goes black. In your blindness you thrash about,
desperate to grab hold of something solid. The ground seems to have fallen
away and your very flesh is fluid to the touch. A panic swells within you
as you flail wildly for what seems like an eternity. Suddenly you're
anchored by a sharp pain. The scales fall from your eyes as cold metal
bashes through your flesh. You see yourself staring back at you, weapon in
hand, striking you down. A wave of relief passes through you.
You wake up.
[Rikkard] You stand on four limbs, towering above a
comparatively small watering hole. You look down and see animals of all
shapes surrounding your ankles. As they drink from the pond, a reptilian
creature erupts from the formerly calm surface and drags a horned creature
beneath the water. The rest scatter briefly before returning for another
drink. You feel better than you've felt in eons. You're filled with love
for these creatures, your children, and you're filled with curiosity for
this new unknown. Uncharted territory, rippling with possibilities.
You tilt your eyes upward and witness several more of
your children standing on the crest of a hill, staring back at you with
feline eyes. These figures stand upright on two short digitigrade legs
with long furred bodies partially covered in bits of cloth. You have love
in your heart for them as well, but these children are disobedient and
must be broken of their ways and returned to the fold.
You stare down at your reflection as you wait for
night to fall. A black, beastly silhouette with glowing white eyes and
bands of red light that look as though they've been refracted through
water. When the sun drops below the horizon and the creatures of the hole
have left, you shift your gaze to the stone dam at the pond's outlet. With
one swipe you clear the blockage and the pond quickly turns back into a
free-flowing stream. Your children tried to exert order over this land,
but it is your territory, and if they wish to conquer it, they must first
conquer you.
You wake up.
