On The Abyss
A thick, soupy nothingness that exists beyond the reach of Ouroboros. This
realm surrounds and envelops our universe, as unknowable to us as our
existence is to bacteria. Most of what can be described as "living" here
are massive, unrecognizable creatures with alien intellects and motives
beyond comprehension, but at least one being from our universe survives on
the fringe of Being and Unbeing.
Lolth, dark goddess of the drow, was cast from the light of Ouroboros and
into the viscous Void at the moment of her ascension. She ekes out a home
here, using nearly all of her divine power to simply Be. Every once in a
while she discovers a place where the void grinds up against the material,
thinning the divide. These places can only exist in the inky blackness
deep within the mantle of Glade, and when she bursts through she thrashes
about, desperately clawing in search of any relief from the eternal
darkness, and finding none, before being pulled back through the rift.
Evil souls are occasionally sent here to isolate them from the greater
consciousness, granting Lolth the sustenance required to maintain her hold
on reality. They will receive another chance, as we all do, when Ouroboros
is born anew.
