Zilch is Defeated
Zilch grits his teeth as he watches his spell fail, strafing Stavroula and
muttering under his breath. "Your voice, it grows quiet... I'm sorry my
love, I'll mend my mistake soon."
Stinky meets his strafe and pivots with her shield raised. She turns her
head for a second to see Uusi demolish a skeleton and vanish behind the
obelisk. There's a moment of hesitation and it's clear she heard him
speak, but she moves to cast another spell nevertheless.
"You outsiders are all the same." Zilch exclaims. "I try to get out but
you keep dragging me back in... just leave us alone!" He lurches forward,
bending with the blow and coughing up some blood, "No... this is happening
too fast. I can't die--not here..." His eyes shine bright as a full moon
on a clear night as he begins to cast.
...
Zilch drops to his knees, attempting to keep his guts from spilling,
straining to talk between sputters. "This must all be a prank... my whole
life... a divine prank. Mother, father... they saw nothing in me.
Primordius Himself... there was never any place for me here, nor will
there be in Mobius for one so wicked." He keels over in the dust.
"Cassandra... forgive me...."
As she let loose the bolt of acid, an overwhelming sense of compassion
fills Uusi's body almost instinctively. She runs over to Zilch as he hits
the ground, peering into the hole in his chest from the bolt she let loose
upon him, filling her with pain to see what harm she had caused. She lays
a claw upon his arm.
Stinky frees her hands, suddenly dropping what was held in both. On her
right, the divine flail connects with the ground and evaporates in a small
shower of sparkles as it desummons. On her left, her shield clatters to
the ground. Her slow, short strides bridge the gap between her and Zilch
as the enfeebled primordian speaks his last. Then, she thrusts her hands
forward to grab the sides of his head with gloved hands. Behind her lenses
the whites of her eyes are fully visible, burning intense. In the last
moments of his consciousness, they bore into his own.
